Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
People seek therapy for many reasons. You may be feeling stuck in certain patterns, experiencing stress in relationships, navigating a life transition, or simply wanting a deeper understanding of yourself. Therapy provides a space to explore these experiences and develop new ways of responding that support greater well-being and connection.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We will talk about your current concerns, relevant background, and what you hope to gain from the process. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and get a sense of whether the fit feels right.
How long does therapy usually last?
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the concerns you want to address. Some people come for a shorter period of focused work, while others find value in longer-term therapy that allows for deeper exploration and growth. We can discuss your goals and periodically revisit what feels most helpful for you.
Do you work with individuals or couples?
I work with both individuals and couples. Individual therapy may focus on personal growth, emotional patterns, relationships, or life transitions. Couples therapy often focuses on communication, emotional connection, intimacy, and resolving recurring conflicts.
What is sex therapy?
Sex therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy that focuses on concerns related to intimacy, sexual well-being, desire differences, and relational dynamics around sexuality. Conversations take place in a professional therapeutic setting and do not involve any physical contact or sexual activity.
Is therapy confidential?
Confidentiality is an important part of the therapeutic process. Information shared in therapy is kept private except in certain circumstances required by law, such as concerns related to safety. These limits to confidentiality will be discussed during your first session.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
Sessions are available in person and via secure telehealth, depending on your preferences and location. Many clients appreciate the flexibility of virtual sessions while others prefer meeting in person.
How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, as consistency helps build momentum in the therapeutic process. Over time, the frequency of sessions may change depending on your needs and goals.
What if I’m not sure therapy will help?
It’s completely normal to feel uncertain about starting therapy. Many people begin the process with questions or hesitation. The first few sessions can help you get a sense of whether the approach and relationship feel supportive for you.

Do you offer clinical supervision?
Yes. I am a Washington State Approved Supervisor and provide clinical supervision to associate-level clinicians working toward independent licensure. My supervision style emphasizes thoughtful clinical reflection, ethical practice, and the development of each clinician’s unique therapeutic voice.
What is your approach to supervision?
My approach to supervision is collaborative and developmentally focused. I support supervisees in strengthening their clinical skills, deepening their case conceptualization, and navigating the professional and ethical responsibilities of practice. Supervision often includes discussion of clinical cases, theoretical perspectives, and the therapist’s use of self in the therapeutic process.
Who do you provide supervision for?
I provide supervision for associate-level clinicians working toward independent licensure in Washington. Many of the clinicians I supervise have an interest in relational work, couples therapy, or developing greater depth in their clinical practice.
How can I inquire about supervision?
If you are interested in supervision, you are welcome to reach out through the contact page with a brief description of your current role, licensure track, and what you are hoping to gain from supervision.
